Sex and porn addiction are hard for people to discuss, this article explores the neurobiology of the disorder. Dopamine, the neurotransmitter responsible for pleasure and motivation, can be hijacked in addicts by increasing dopamine receptors, exacerbating withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Research shows dopamine plays a significant role in the onset and continuation of these addictions.
